Mumbai Indians develop a habit of dealing in thrillers

27May08

On a pitch where the ball kept low, the Mumbai Indians managed to post a total of 145 for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs with almost every batsman making a contribution. In reply, the Royals got off to a solid start with Kamran Akmal targetting Nehra in the second over itself. However, the Mumbai Indians responded with some tight bowling  and were instantly rewarded with Akmal getting out. Soon, Watson also took the long walk back to the pavilion. It looked like the Indians had the match in the bag. But some lusty blows by Niraj Patel (40 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (23 not out) took the match to the last over, infact the last ball. Requiring 2 runs off the last ball, a series of misfields by Dilhara and Jayasuriya allowed the Royals to win the match
